In March
2004 members of the Board made a two day trip to visit
the impressive Broadcast Centre of UCB (United Christian broadcasters)
where they experienced a warm Christian welcome, enjoyed meeting
some of the UCB staff and had inspiring meetings with Ian Mackie
(CEO) and Andrew Urquhart (Radio Broadcast Manager).
September
took the team once again to Stoke on Trent. At the headquarters
of Cross Rhythms who have been operating a local FM radio station
for the past 2 years under a trial "Access Radio" licence.
Meetings were held with their radio station management team and
also with Peter Wilson of the Christian Broadcasting Council and
Normal Polden of Flame FM on Wirral.
Once again,
at UCB Headquarters, stimulating meetings were held with Andrew
Urquhart and Ian Mackie.
Board members
have also been present at training and networking events connected
with the new Community Radio licences.
These included
two days at BBC headquarters in Glasgow and a day licencing workshop
with direct advice from a member of the licence authority team.
Board members
have also been active forging new relationships which we anticipate
will take our broadcasting scope and capabilities forward in the
coming months and years, increasing our value as a tool to both
church and community.
